Projects
The principle focus of my activities at the moment is work on The wreck of former boundaries, a work for ensemble and electronics featuring ELISION and trumpet soloists Peter Evans and Tristram Williams. The work includes short, extractable solos for electric lap steel guitar & electronics, double bass, clarinet, saxophone & electronics, and trombone & electronics. The full work for ensemble & electronics will be approximately 30-35 minutes and is scheduled to be premiered in September 2016. In early September 2015 I’ll spend a week in Melbourne working in creative development sessions with players from ELISION, focusing in particular on the material for electric lap steel guitar and double bass, both of which draw on the rhythm experiments discussed here. The extractable electric lap steel + electronics work is commissioned by the RMIT Gallery Sonic Arts Collection and supported by the SIAL electronic music studio at RMIT University.
